NATA Accreditation

S E C Plating Pty Ltd is the only Australian electroplating facility equipped with a world recognised NATA accredited laboratory (Accreditation number 1667).

S E C Plating Laboratory is accredited by National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) for technical and management competence compliant to ISO/IEC 17025 in the field of Chemical Testing for ISO 3497 Metallic coatings – measurement of coating thickness – X-ray spectrometric methods.

Process and Quality Control and Testing

S E C Plating Laboratory is a fully equipped, professionally staffed laboratory, capable of performing analysis and testing of all electroplating and related solution, in addition to extensive process validation and product quality verification capabilities.

Our laboratory is equipped to perform destructive and non-destructive testing on a wide variety of single and multi-layer plated coatings and substrates

Test methods and equipment used at S E C Plating Laboratory include:-

  • Adhesion of chromate coatings: AS1789.
  • Adhesion of chemical conversion coatings: MIL-DTL-5541 and MIL-DTL-81706.
  • Adhesion of metallic coatings: AS2331.4.1 or SEC-LAB-116.
  • Coating thickness measurement by Magnetic Induction and Eddy current methods: AS2331.1.4.
  • Coating thickness measurement by dimensional-difference using Micrometer or Vernier Caliper: SEC-LAB-011.
  • Coating mass of chemical conversion coatings: MIL-DTL-5541 and MIL-DTL-81706.
  • Coating mass of chromate coatings: AS1789
  • Plating thickness measurement by X-ray spectrometric method (XRF): ISO3497. 
  • Plating thickness measurement by Dissolution methods: AS2331.2.1.
  • Plating thickness measurement by Coulometric method: AS2331.1.2.
  • Solderability test of tin and tin-lead coatings using Meniscograph IAW customer specifications.
  • Tarnish Resistance of Silver Coatings: SEC-LAB-102.
  • The metal finishing specifications that S E C  Plating can competently comply with span national, defence, aerospace, automotive and third party standards and specifications including but are not limited to: AS, ASTM, BS, DEF STAN, DIN, ISO, NAS, SAE and MIL..
